The Svipper App

You can use a bus ticket on any bus as long as:

• you have the correct ticket category (child, adult, senior, etc.) 
• you travel in the correct zone
• the ticket is activated/valid

How to buy bus tickets in the Svipper app:

• Click on Tickets in the menu at the bottom
• Select Buy
• Select the ticket you wish to buy
• Select travellers and number 
• Select the stop or zone
• Check that the start time is correct
• Click To payment
• Pay by Vipps or payment card 
• You can save the card for faster payment next time

How to buy express boat tickets in the Svipper app:

• Click on Tickets in the menu at the bottom
• Select Buy
• Select Single ticket express boat
• Select travellers and number 
• Select where you want to travel (from/to)
• Select you desired departure
• Pay by Vipps or payment card
• You can save the card for faster payment next time

How to find your ticket for boarding or inspection: 

• Click on Tickets in the menu at the bottom
• Click on My tickets in the menu at the top
• Click on Show details 

Please note

• You do not need to show your ticket when boarding the city bus in Tromsø.
• Outside Tromsø, you must show your ticket to the driver.
• Do not scan the QR code when boarding the bus.
• Both the driver and ticket inspectors may ask to see a valid ticket at any time during the journey.

Buy a ticket for someone else

How to buy a ticket for someone else in the Svipper app

• The person you are buying a ticket for must be logged in to the Svipper app to receive the ticket.
• Select the ticket you want to buy.
• Tap Select traveller.
• Choose the correct ticket category for the person you are buying for.
• Tick Send ticket to someone else.
• Proceed to payment.
• Enter the phone number of the person you are sending the ticket to and continue to Payment.

Once the purchase is completed, you can check Tickets sent to others after payment to see the status.

Ask the recipient to open the Svipper app, go to Tickets, and check that the new ticket has been received and is ready to use.

Bicycle ticket

Bicycle tickets are currently not available for purchase in the Svipper app. 

• If you travel by bus you must buy a child ticket in addition to your own ticket.
• If you are travelling with a bicycle on a express boat, the bicycle fee must be paid on board.

The Find journey function is useful when you wish to plan a trip from one place to another. You can use this for short or long journeys. 

In the sections for From and To, you can enter: 

• the address you wish to travel from
• a stop
• or select My position

The app then suggests various itineraries based on where you are and which services are available.

When you select an itinerary, you will see:

• which bus route you can use
• the departure time
• how far you need to walk
• the route displayed on a map
• total travel time 
• total walking distance

If the bus is on its way to your stop, you can choose Follow bus to see the current location of the bus. 

The Departures feature is useful if you want to see which buses are departing near you, or from a specific stop.

If you select My position, you will get an overview of stops nearby and which buses depart from there.

You will find your Profile on the right-hand side in the menu at the bottom. This contains:

• Information related to your profile, customer number, payment options and ticket history
• Settings for appearance in the app, choice of launch screen and language
• Edit your favourite locations and favourite departures
• See privacy statement, service disruptions, terms & conditions and fares

Add favourite locations

Saving your favourite locations will make it even easier to do travel searches in the app.

• Tap Save a favourite location
• Search for a location you often travel to or from
• Choose a name and possibly an icon for the location to make it easier to distinguish between your favourite locations.

Do you want to edit or delete your favourite locations?

• Go to My profile
• Scroll down to Favourites and tap Locations
• Tap the pencil icon to edit each favourite location

Add favourite departures

If you frequently travel from the same stop and on the same bus or express boat route, you can save this as a favourite departure. As your favourite departures are visible on the stage page of the app, you can quickly see when the next departure is.

• Tap Add a favourite departure
• Search for the stop you travel from most frequently
• Tap the star to make the departure a favourite
• Go back to the start page (travel search) and tap Select favourite departures to decide which departures will be visible on the start page.

Do you want to delete a favourite departure?

• Tap Select favourite departures
• Tap Edit favourite departures
• Tap the recycle bin icon beside the departure you wish to delete

See departures in real time

Get an overview of the next departures from a stop or quay in real time.

• Go to Departures
• Use My position or search for locations to find a stop nearby
• Select Stops to see departures
• Select the bus route to see more details, including a map showing the last stop the bus passed in real time.

See where the bus is in real time

Follow the location of the bus on a real time map on the Svipper app.

How to see the bus on the real time map:

• Select a departure or details on a travel search
• Tap the Follow bus button under the route number to open the map
• Follow the location of the bus white it’s driving
• The bus route on the map will then be green for the section of the route or from the stop you have selected. The rest of the route will be grey.

The button is only called Follow bus when the bus has left the first stop. The real time function is then active. If the bus has not left the first stop, the button will be called View map and only show the route.

Transfer a ticket to another phone

You can transfer your ticket to a new phone by following these steps:

1. Download the Svipper app on your new phone.
2. Log in to your account.
3. Navigate to "My Profile."
4. Under "Settings," select "Use ticket on phone."
5. Tap "Change."
6. Choose the new device where you want to use the ticket.
7. Press "Save."

Please note, you can only switch devices up to three times per month.
